ROUTE: Delhi-Dharamshala (Mc Leodganj) Pho-Kanal-Kereri village-Bal-Laka Got-Trund- Bhagsu-Dharamshala-Paragpur-Amritsar-Delhi.

HIGHLIGHTS: Dalai Lama’s Monastery cum residence, Splendid Camp sites, Flora and Fauna, Dauladhar Peaks, Golden Temple, Heritage Villages and much more.

Trekking through the pristine valleys ensconced within the snow capped mountain peaks amidst the nomads & their cattle is as natural as it can get. On our meadows & monasteries trek you shall encounter the virtual nomadic fiefdoms at places like Gaddi & be amazed by the peaceful life these people live far away from the urban clutter busy tending to their flock. This experience shall get you up close & personal with the nature’s bountiful in the form of rivulets, high altitude pastures, sheep & horses, terraced fields, dense mixed forests of oak, rhododendron, pine and bamboo apart from H.H. Dalai Lama’s monastery and residence, Paragpur (a heritage village) Amritsar (Pool of Nectar)Buddhist Monasteries.

You arrive in New Delhi today on your own. The company representative shall meet, greet & assist you at the airport exit. Later you drive to your hotel for check-in. After check in you shall enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Rest for a couple of hours before exploring Delhi

In the afternoon you shall go on a guided tour of the Old Delhi city. Here you get to visit the Red-fort (closed on Mondays), Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi) and Chandni Chowk (The legendary Market) riding a cycle rickshaw. You retract in the evening for an overnight stay at your hotel

After breakfast, you shall go on a guided tour of the Lutyen’s Delhi or New Delhi. You first stop of the day shall be India Gate (A memorial to the soldiers of the Afghan war). On a tidy & long road that takes itself to the Raisina Hill on the North where Presidents Palace is, this memorial is set amidst the lush green Boat club lawns. Later you visit the Birla Temple and the Humayun’s Tomb. Rest of the afternoon shall be at leisure unless you decided on visiting more sites like the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar or the Akshardham temple in the evening.

DAY 03 DELHI – JALANDHAR- DHARAMSHALLA (10 hours approx; 5 hours by train + 5 hours by road)

Early morning today, you shall transfer to the New Delhi railway station for boarding the Shatabdi Express train to Jalandhar. This service departs at 0720 hrs and the schedule arrival time is 1210 hrs. Upon alighting down at Jalandhar you reach the waiting car, put all your luggage atop & start driving to your next destination, Dharamshala, This drive of 135 Kms is through a beautiful countryside, roadside hamlets & through the foothills showing terraced fields/villages and distant mountain views.

You shall have a typical North Indian Lunch at a roadside eatery. You reach Dharamshala by the evening time & check in your hotel.

About Dharamshala:
The quaint hill station was established by the British between 1815 and 1847, but remained a minor town until H.H. Dalai Lama settled here after the Chinese invasion of Tibet in October 1959. You can see there is an obvious Tibetan influence in McLeodganj, the seat of Tibetan government in exile, Replete with monasteries, Tibetan restaurants, Tibetan costumes & culture

Today after your breakfast, you get to explore this fascinating town that smells of everything Tibetan. The highlight of the day shall be the visit to the Monastery of H.H Dalai Lama. Evening shall be at leisure for your own time.

DAY 05 DHARAMSHALA - (McLeodganj) - BOA VILLAGE ( 12kms trek, 5 hours, Elevation 1600 mts)

After early morning breakfast you drive about two hours to reach BOA Village situated on the banks of river Brahal. En-route you shall see the spectacular views of the Dauladhar all around embracing you. It is from here that your trekking experience shall commence.
The trek starts with a 2 hrs steep ascend to Batune a remote tribal village, from here another half hour trek takes you to Lingru Nag temple (Snake God). You shall stop here for your lunch that has been packed back from the hotel. Afterwards you descend to your camp at Konal village that takes you through the forest, terraced fields and small villages. You retire here for the night in North facing deluxe tents.

DAY 06 KANAL – KARERI (14 kms, 6 hrs, Elevation 1975 mts)

After early breakfast you begin your trek that is slight more steep than the previous one. You make a steep ascent for about 4hrs to the top of the ridge through the mixed forest, from here at the top point you get to see the fine views of the valley below and another one hour almost flat walk take us to Kareri village (207 mts).
Here you shall camp in a lovely meadow on the banks of Laund River, surrounded by rolling hills and showing distant views of the mountains and villages on the other side of the river with slate roofs. Today you shall enjoy dinner by the campfire site. Stay overnight in the Tents.

DAY 07 KARERI – BAL (6 hrs, 2330 mts)

After an early morning breakfast, you shall continue the love of your life in the form of trekking further from where you left yesterday. You start with a very gradual ascent, through small bushes to a lovely mountain village, halt briefly for a real experience of the way of life by the locals. Share a cup of Tea (hot sweet Chai) with the family who will be very pleased and happy to host you. This village also offers distant views of the Dauladhar mountain range. You shall continue through the open meadows and pine forest to another village with lovely houses and then descent through the valley to a beautiful mountain stream (you may take to have dip here, as the stream creates some beautiful pools). Here is the perfect place for eating lunch & some rest. Thereafter you begin gradual ascent for about one hour followed by a steep ascent through dense mixed forest of bamboo, oak and pine to COL village offering beautiful views of the valley, from COL it is another 30 min gradual ascent to the BAL village (2330 mts), by which you pass through the bal village along the terraced fields to another beautiful camping place with gushing river nearby and distant views of Camel peak (5300 mts). Overnight in tents

DAY 08 BAL- LAKAGOT (3500 mts/09 hrs)

After breakfast you cross the river over a suspension bridge and then make a steep ascent through mixed forest of Rhododendron and pine for about 2 hrs. This forest is a heaven for bird watchers, later you come to a ridge with one Tea shop at the top, selling piping hot tea. Thereafter you rest a bit before making a gradual ascend. The whole path is flocked with the Gaddi tribal people taking their cattle to high pastures of La and Triund, the trek offers fine views of grassy slope and the distant views of Dharamshala. After having Lunch the views open up and now you are getting closer to Dauladhar mountain ranges. You ascend through a meadow with a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and then through the Oak forest to Laka Got, a perfect camping place offering close-up views of the Dauladhar mountains. Retire overnight in tent

DAY 09 LAKA GOT –TRIUND (2985 mts) -3 hrs Trek

You have the luxury of a free morning time to explore this lovely campsite on your own, unless you are raring to have ago at the awaiting climb. Here you can enjoy a steep ascent over loose stone to 4500 mts pass for fine views of the Himalaya and the Chamba valley. Enjoy lunch & a short nap before getting back to your business of trekking for about 3hrs to Truind though the pine/Oak forest and fine meadows. Stay overnight at your camp. Enjoy Camp fire and a comfortable stay.

DAY 10 TRIUND – BHAGSU NAG VILLAGE - PARAGPUR (1740 mts/about 5 hrs trek, 2 hrs drive)

After breakfast you walk over a grassy ridge for about 4kms with fine views of the valley below and the snowy peaks on other side. After trekking the distance you start a steep descent through the mixed forest of Oak, Rhododendrons and bamboo to small Hagsu Nallaha (Stream), you cross the river by hopping over boulders to a small Chai shop and the further few kms gradual descent just below attractive water fall, you reach a perfect place for eating your lunch, after lunch. You trek for another 30 mins to Bhagsu Nag Village which has a lovely temple and natural springs! Great for a refreshing dip! Your jeeps will be waiting for you for taking you on a drive of 2hrs/70kms to a delightful Heritage Hotel in Paragpur for your overnight stay. In Paragpur the only heritage village in India, you enjoy majestic views of the distant Dauladhar Mountains. Your trek ends here.

DAY 11 PARAGPUR – AMRITSAR (5 - 6 hrs drive)

After breakfast you enjoy a guided walk through the heritage village for a couple of hours. You return back for lunch and after lunch drive in right earnest to the holy city of Amritsar. Upon reaching you check in your hotel for an overnight stay.

Today after morning breakfast, you go on a full day sightseeing tour of the city’s prominent places. These include the illustrious Golden Temple (Highest seat of the Sikh faith) and Jalianwalla Bagh (The place where General Dyer ordered fire on the unarmed gathering). Return back to your hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 13: AMRITSAR – DELHI (By Superfast Shatabdi train, 5 1/2 hours),

You board the early morning train to Delhi that is expected to take anywhere between 5-6 hours. Upon arrival & alighting down, you transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure unless you are keen on visiting some of the places that you could not see upon your arrival in India.

You can even visit the local Spice Market that is one of the largest of its kind in Asia. Late night/early morning transfer to the international airport.
